James went to see Dr. Troischt today for his 15 month check up. James is doing great both growth-wise and developmentally. He is only expected to be able to say about 5 words at this age, and he is at about 15. Plus he is able to follow simple commands . . . when it suits him . . . and he understands a lot of what you say to him. We did get a better understanding of why James gets congested so easily and why he still drools quite a bit. His tonsils and his adenoids are enlarged. However, unless they get infected, they will not do anything about them until he is 3 or 4. Apparently if they try to take them out now, they grow back! Talked to the doctor about James' sleep habits...or lack thereof. Dr. Troischt said that he is a fan of the crying it out method and it worked very well for his kids. You just have to have about a week that you can live with less sleep. We are debating starting again tonight since we know he is healthy and there is nothing health-wise that would keep him up. James also had his PPD and chicken pox vaccinations today. He cried for a few minutes but is doing fine. All is all, it was a good visit and a great report for Little Man!
Jen: Good luck with the sleep thing...we did the cry it out method and thankfully it didn't last long. But Morgan was always a good night-time sleeper too. It will be very hard for you all, but as you said, he's healthy and nothing else is going on, so give it a try.
